A novel you live
A Life in Prose
What will become of you?
Your graduation gown is still on the bedroom door. Someone downstairs has made coffee. An old friend needs a favor.
A Life in Prose is a text-first life simulation that reads like a literary novel. You live one year at a time, from eighteen to as long as you can make it last — perhaps one hundred and twenty — and the choices you make come back, sometimes decades later.
Begin with a preface.
One page: your name, who you are, how much family, how many brothers and sisters. Everyone else, friends and love included, you meet along the way, if you go looking.
A story every year.
Give your ordinary days a shape, then let the year happen. Hundreds of authored scenes: love and its erosion, children who become strangers and then friends, betrayals you didn't see coming, and kindnesses that find their way back thirty years later.
People remember.
Your family, the friends you keep, and the people you choose to love have their own dreams, grudges, and boundaries. They age with you. Some of them go first.
Live as long as you can.
Habits matter over decades. Most lives end in their seventies or eighties. A few, kept carefully, reach one hundred and twenty.
The bookshelf.
Every life ends with an epilogue that remembers everyone in it, a card you can share, and milestones that stay with you. Begin again from a different family and see who you become.
